Anyone tried one of these? Chiapa Citadel M1 carbine in 9mm para. There are quite a few different 9mm carbines on the market but I find this one most interesting and at an interesting price. Others I have found interesting are the Marlin camp 9 and the Ruger. This one is appealing to me because it looks like steel and wood. I see this as a home defense gun, pick up gun, and weekend fun gun. Also no need of jacketed bullets for enhanced ballistic performance.

i never had a chiapa citadel but my dad has one in 30 carbine(grandpa passed away, he gave it to my dad). that chiapa is a nice looking gun. of course i am biased, i like wood and steel too!!! although i've never had/seen a chiapa, i would buy it.

The 9mm is a look alike. Its just a standard blowback like a 22, like the hipoint carbines, and they are very rough, and dont feed well. If you worked one iver, im sure you could make it work good, but they dont work well out of the box.

Greetings Interesting. I also like the M1 Carbine. Never thought about one in 9mm. But then I seldom think about 9mm. I am just not a 9mm fan. Now a M1 Carbine in a 40 something would be far more appealing to me. Have a Kal Tech (puke ugly) 40 S&W (Glock mag) that shoots fantasticly with anything it gets fed. I do like the fold up design. Fits right nice in a brief case. But a walnut stock and blue barrel would be much more pleasant to haul about. Mike in Peru

Not much of a 9mm fan here either but it will suffice for spray painting things lead. 40 S&W would be better and 45 acp better yet.

I honestly wouldnt turn my nose up at the hipoints, and they come in all three calibers.

Spoke with a friend today regarding the Chiappa M1 carbine in 9mm he'd bought. He had the store return it for repair/fixing, the front sight was angled off to the left!! He'd thought he'd heat the base of the sight to try and rotate it; but the front sight is pinned in place to the barrel, so heating n' turning was out of the questio. Nope he hadn't had a chance to fire it, so no report about that, k'. I didn't get to see/handle it before he had it returned. Will do so when he gets it back, whenever that might be? Wood stock and blued metal, now that's a combination to like...
Speaking of this type of pistol caliber carbine, it'd be nice to have a handgun that used the same magazine. Ruger use to make their PC9 in 9mm and their PC4 in .40 S&W. Excellent heavy duty carbines, just hard to find for sale these days. The PC9 and PC4 use the same magazines as the P85 and P94 Ruger handguns, which makes it nice/convenient.
