Anybody know for sure does the Ruger American ranch rifle in 300 BO use standard AR magazines ? I have one mag but would like a couple more. The one that came new with my rifle says
5.56x45 inside a cartridge shape PMAG10AR/M4MAGPUL-industries corp cage 1LX50 GEN M3 I would like a couple more of the same. These are 10 round.

I can check with my buddy that owns a gun store in town but he’s closed on Mondays and won’t know till Tuesday. Just let me know if you find the answer before then.

I am pretty sure now the answer is yes. I made a mistake by adding the word ranch to the description. It is not a ranch which I believe is the mini 14. It is the Ruger American bolt action which I am now fairly certain take the AR mags. The one magpull mag I have is stamped AR 5.6x45

I checked with my buddy that owns the gun store and he said “go grab one each Ruger 5.56 mag and one Ruger 300 BO mag” I took both out of the package and compared them and they are exactly the same.

No thanks necessary! You would do the exact same for me! Finding magazines should be much easier than looking for a specific one! I’ve always wanted a Ruger mini 30 but haven’t pulled the trigger (get it?) because you can’t find those mags at any gun store!

Oh oh how about a Delighl SMLE conversion in 45 acp. Model 1955, would that be an N frame Smith?

… Model 1955, would that be an N frame Smith? Yes, an N frame. I have a few of them, even a birth year Model 1950 that shipped in July of 1955. But the Model 1955 was introduced in…wait for it…1955! In March specifically. So, they were only made for less than a year and not many of them. I have two Model 25-2s but neither from 1955. Still, I seek! Kevin

Refresh my memory for me Pard! What platform did Elmer use or prefer most besides those early pre 29 guns made up in the S&W tool room for his experimentation? I believe I remember in Six Guns he used a Colt SAA quite a bit as well and maybe one similar to a Grover #5? Thanks!

Its hard to say Rob but I think early on he used single actions for stoked up 44 special loads but later in the years just preceding the introduction of the 44 mag in 1955 he was using large frame S&W revolvers Like the 1917 and the triple lock. The Grover #5 is kind of a reproduction of Elmers design of what he thought was what the Colt SAA should have been. Elmer laid out the design and I think it was Harrold Croft that built the gun. Later on in about the mid 80's the Fella from Texas Grover offered his version of the Keith #5 revolver and to my understanding it was a pretty close copy.

Gotcha! I knew he used single actions a good bit but didn’t know or forgot about the 1917
