I don't often find good deals on guns, and when I do, I usually don't have the money and have to pass up on them. The other day I happened upon a older Savage 110E in 30/06. The lady who had had no idea what it was and just had it listed as "Hunting rifle for deer. $200". From the picture I could tell what it was. I was able to scrounge up the money, because I figured any 30/06 with a scope (even a cheap one like this bushnell) was worth $300 and I could make a few bucks on it. When I went to pick it up, the gun was a bit more beat up then the photos had looked, so I offered $150, and she countered with $180 and I bought it. I took it home, and cleaned the little bit of rust off of it, and the dust and gave the bore a good cleaning. Before listing it up for sale, I decided to load up a few rounds and shoot it. I used the powder that was in the Uniflow which happened to be 2400, and a some 180gn Seaco bullets that I had laying around. Loaded 25 rounds and went and sighted the rifle in. I wish I had never shot it now. It shoots this bullet much better then my 308 does. The 308 has a very tight chamber and next to no throat and hasn't done well with any of the cast that I have tried in it. This rifle on the other hand shot quite well. Once i was on target I fired two, and then decided to move the scope 2 more clicks to the left and fired 5. The highest one was a flier from the final five, and I am going to blame it on the fact that I was not shooting off of a good rest, and was shooting directly into the sun light and had glare so bad i could hardly see the cross hair.
Can't really afford to keep the rifle, so it's going up for sale, but I'm listing it high because I would not be at all upset if it did not sell...
