Hi Daniel, Mike, or anyone else that might be interested. I might have the chance to buy a Peabody Rifle that was made by Providence Tool Co. for the Connecticut State Militia. Originally chambered in .43 Spanish, & later returned to the factory & re bored to .45-70 for the 405 gr. government cartridge. As of now, my $300 offer is tops. It will end tomorrow. Have any of you ever had any experience with any of these rifles?

Hello. What caliber did you go with? & for sights, Vernier & spirit level? I won't know until tomorrow evening if I will end up with this one, but if the bid stays low enough, I'll buy it. I will leave it original, to go with my 1884 Trapdoor & my 1871 Remington Rolling Block New York Militia .50-70.

Howdy We also have two Peabody's. One is a Conn. 45-70 and the other an early Carbine in 56-50 Rimfire. The breach blocks are interchangable. After firing the 45-70 some, we swapped the beach blocks and bought some Starline 56.50 center fire brass. The carbine would be a fine up close corn cruncher hunting tool. We use a .54+ round ball and a case full of 3F Goex. Both are at the War Museum in Danville, ILL-nois.

One is 40-82 Crosnoe, the other is 50-2.1. The Crosnoe is period scoped, can't recall what's on the 50 for sights

I like them. They appear to be a very strong action and I believe will handle Marlin + type loads without issue.

My bid now is $475+ 10% & tax, but I think it will take off before bidding ends at 5 P.M. 12 people are watching it.

I didn't get the rifle. My top bid was $775. It is now at $950 + 10% buyer's premium, + 7 1/4% Ohio sales tax, + any s & h charges for packaging. Too rich for an old man, as it's getting close to actual value.
