We have a CZ 30-06 standard hunting rifle bought 35+ years ago. Hammer forged barrel. Standard wood stock. But the action was factor bedded. It does have a receiver sight on it also. Gets a scope for load development. It shoots all our handloads well to include cast that is .0015 over groove. 125's to 235 RN just a little powder adjustment and 5 shot cloverleafs at 100 yards. 180 RCBS FNGC sized .310 is great.

This conjures up memories of rifles past that have been superbly accurate most of which calibers start with a 2. If limited to current possession I think honors will go to a 6mm BRM in a model 97-D built by E. Aurthor Brown Co. The tally is not in yet on the 25 hornet and the two may go neck and neck for accuracy but the 25 hornet requires breach seating the bullet ahead of a charged case where as the 6mm BRM uses conventional fixed ammo.

my most accurate rifle is my TC Encore with a 23" MGM heavy factory barrel in 20 Vartarg. a 32gr Hornady V-max with Reloder 7 goes .173" at 100 yards (5 shots) and .248" at 100 yards (10 shots). this is with careful handloads. nowadays, the 20VT goes around 1/2" at 100 yards (5 shots) with 34gr Midway/Midsouth hp and Reloder 7 with "sloppy" reloads.
i think the Ruger #1 in 270 that uses a 130gr Nosler BT and a 140gr Hornady SST is next. it will go 1/2" at 100 yards no problem.
the 444 Marlin in TC Encore with a 23" MGM heavy factory barrel is a cast booliters dream rifle. it will cloverleaf 250-300gr FN GC with a little bit effort on the handloading scale. it shoots a .429 to .432" boolit consonantly and there is no leading.

Currently is a Tikka T3x super lite in 6.5 creedmoor.
Most accurate I’ve ever owned by a fair margin was an old Remington 788 in 223 I had as a teenager. The old man should remember that rifle. I shot that gun so much I wore the throat out of it.

I remember that 788 and how well it shot that NEI cast bullet. You got so mad at me when I sold that NEI mold but its replacement from CBE shot just as good. That CBE bullet is a favorite in my hornet. It runs best at full throttle.

We have a .243 788 that does shoot very well... but is very finiky with cast. Happily we have not shoot out our throat as a rechamber / rebore is the only solution. Sure is a fine rigid shooting platform.

You know the sad part is that 788 would still shoot a lot better then some rifles I’ve had even after being shot out, however i knew what it had one time been capable of and wasn’t happy and sold it.
If I remember the fellow we sold it to send us a email talking about how accurate that rifle was.

They do shoot. Most accurate .243 we have ever owned.
