What wool sock would you recommend ? We have been out of the cold 37 years (:>) and some of you are with it right now. We return in June so have a bit of time before the cold will get to us.

Wool is good but expensive. Wool retains its insulating quality even when wet. Polypro is also good because it doesnt actually get wet holding water like wool but breaths so moistier (sweet) can wick away from your skin and not cause a chill like wet cotton will. I mostly wear polypro for under garments but I do like wool or wool blend for socks. We should ask some younger folks, JUNIOR

Oh heck, I don't know. I just buy socks when I need them. I think all the wool socks I have right now are Carhartt brand, but I honestly don't wear them unless I wear bunny boots and thats not usually unless I'm working up north and outside for hours at a time in the wind and cold.
The current winter boots I have are a pair of Timberland Pro Boondocks with the 400g Thermolite insulation. They make these boots with 600g too, but the 400 in plenty for me down to 20-30 below. I normally just wear just regular old white socks with these boots with no issues.

Thank you ! Looks like wool is still a good idea. I do have a GI poli "something thermal shirt used on top of my T shirt that works well on the 2 wheeler crossing the 11,000 pass. Under 50-45 at 45 mph it does good as legs start going cold unless I squeeze the gas tank firmly. Not much fun for the 30-40 minutes it takes. Then Thinsulate boots. I have read some about those working well. Usually stores have those "after winter" sales so I will be looking. Thank you !
