Hello all! Hope everyone is getting to enjoy the Labor Day weekend! Like the title implies I went to my first gunshow in quite awhile today. It wasn’t a super big show I would guess there were 100 tables max and of those tables maybe 60-70 of them actually had guns or gun related stuff on them. It was super disappointing to see a bunch of the tables have what I would almost class as flea market item. Things like the latest cleaning product, jewelry, tshirts and other crap that shouldn’t be at a GUN show. It was also shocking to see the prices for some of what I would call common guns. I almost passed out when I saw S&W revolvers models 15,19,27,28,29,57,66 all going for $900 bucks plus! Wow! None of these were new and most had probably just been carried a bunch or just not cared for but they sure weren’t new. I also had one dealer how special a Marlin 336 in 35Rem was because it had the JM mark! Wow! Really? That one and probably another half million 336s. I suppose I’m just getting older. I’m not gonna pay crazy prices for any gun and thankfully I “think” I have enough to get me by! Between the prices and all the wanna be commandos walking the aisles I think it will be a long time before my next gunshow. 🙁

Wow! Didn’t know it was quite that bad where you live! Do you live up in the northeast? Sorry can’t remember if you’ve said before or not. Things here in the south have pretty much gotten back to “normal” if there is such a thing.🤣 Talking about the big shows, I’ve only ever gotten the chance to attend two of them, one in Tulsa and one in Louisville. I was surprised about it but I actually the Louisville show was better than the Tulsa show. Have you ever heard the saying “don’t ever meet your hero’s”? I gotta say I believe it’s true after my experience. I was in line pretty early for the start of the Louisville show and saw a guy standing about 4 folks in front of me lined up to get in. There was one fellow there wearing a cowboy hat, liking a little bit closer I could tell it was Hank Williams Jr. Growing up in the south and being an almost redneck I listened too and owned most of his albums and even went to one of his concerts(which was awful, another story) so of course seeing him and still being really young I walked past the four folks in front of me and asked for his autograph. I didn’t have any paper with me but I did have a black sharpie. I couldn’t really think of much he could sign so I took off my new Browning baseball cap and asked him to sign it. You would of thought I asked him for a kidney or something!! He acted like a total jerk! I understand now he probably just wanted to go to a gun show like a regular guy and not sign autographs all day. That’s cool, I get it but I don’t think he had to be such a jerk about it. If you are going to be a public figure and a musical celebrity you need to understand people will want to engage you in public. When we got into the show I noticed he had a little guy with him holding a briefcase and he would follow Hank around. Hank would point to a table that had probably 100 Colt SAAs on it, put several aside and he would move to the next table. The little guy would pay the vendor and stick the pistols into his briefcase! So after he gets tired of the pistol or just doesn’t like it, it’s not just a used Colt SAA any longer now it’s one Hank Jr used to own😳 anyway, like I said at the start maybe it’s true you should never meet your hero’s!🤣

about a 1 1/2 hours east of pittsburgh, pa. i used to go harrisburg(that takes 2 or 3 days to go thru) but that is outfitters, boat and camper sales....its just waste fer me. altoona pa had a gun sale, buts its now outfitters and boats.
i've seen two of the pittsburgh steelers greats. the first i was eating at a place and jerome bettis came in. he came in to eat, so patrons left him alone. he did pay for everybody food!!!!i thought that he showed class. the other was troy polamalu and he dd the same thing at a different place.

Last "Gun show" I went to was a small gear exchange we held at our church and it was probably the most fun I've ver had as an adult. Lots of food, and good company, and made some pretty good trades. I haven't been to a actual gun show since I left Idaho.

Jr That actually sounds like a lot of fun! That’s also a great idea, I’m strongly considering trying to do that here in our church. I was very surprised at the number of folks in the congregation who carry now, either open or concealer. I found this out when another couple of veterans in our church and I put on a workshop to show those first time gun owners the basics of safety and how to properly operate their weapon. It’s truly a shame but several years ago our church had to institute more security in the form of members being armed during service. I believe a lot of the older folks would love this idea because a lot of the seniors that would like to have a nice handgun for carry simply don’t have the funds right now. If it happens here it will be really cool to see what some of them bring! Probably a ton of older guns you just don’t see any longer. I’ll have to run it by some members at the next men’s meeting we have. Thanks for a super idea! Did you pick up anything at the gear exchange?😁

Yeah, I picked up a few things. Some traps, a Marlin 44 mag and a few other odds and ends.
We actually have a men’s Bible study every week at our church called men’s class. After the Bible study part, we have a man skill part where someone that attends will teach something that he knows. Has been some prettt cool man skill nights

Wow! That’s another fantastic idea! What a combo! Bible study plus a “man skill” and you can incorporate into everyday life! This is just another example of what a great forum this is. Sadly there are few places anymore where you can get like minded folks together without some keyboard ninja attacking the idea or your belief system. Fantastic idea! Thanks!!
