SierraHunter, aka: BulletHead Seems to me I recall a young lad in Delta Junction, back in 2006, that when I stopped by on my way back south out of Alaska, while we were wrapping fresh moose meat, you were touting the virtues of your 6.5x55 Swede to me!! Remember? Regarding a .50-70 rifle/carbine: most likely we'll connect here in Montana one of these days, and you're welcome to give both a rifle and carbine a workout. Both are Peabody's, not sure if you're familiar with this type of action? The carbine is one originally shipped to South Carolina state militia in 1877, chambered in .50 rimfire. Years ago a North Carolina gunsmith had converted it from rimfire to centerfire and lengthened the chamber to .50 1 3.4". The rifle is a one of two made custom Peabody Sporting Rifles, the other being with a chamber in .45 2 1/10. The carbine has become a favorite with me, though it is a thumper on both ends! I normally use a load of 5744 powder, but BP is on the list for loading this winter. Thank you Bullshop for helping me add to my stockpile of 5744! Will be getting with you on some cast bullets also. Yes, I'll bring more cookies for them fine young'uns!! Refer to the Rifle section for pictures of the Peabody's...

I do remember that, although must say that swede is long gone now.
