Anyone know the process in Montana to pick up road kill? Saw a awesome buck this morning dead in the ditch and want to grab it tomorrow.

problem is you have to have a permit first -- and they want it salvaged for meat -- usually not much left from a deer kill - and in months like july - what a joke! (Mom here)

You have to file after you pick it up, but within 24 hours of picking it up. The one I saw yesterday was good and frozen and in good shape, but was gone by the time I got back to it.
