Recently did some horse trading and ended up with a 1985 Nissan 720 4x4 pickup. Someone gave me a old broken 22 rifle which I fixed and traded for a pump action shotgun, which I then traded for a broke down 88 Ford Ranger with the 2.9 V6. Decided the Ranger was not worth keeping around because it didn't really get all that great of fuel mileage and wouldn't go much faster then 55, so I had a guy that offered to trade me for the Nissan since he wanted a ranger to drop a 302 in. When I was a teenager I had a 87 Dodge Dakota that I picked up for $200 and that is what I learned to drive in. It was a 2wd with the 2.2L engine and a 5 speed manual. I got to the point where I could no longer drive it because it was a single cab, and I couldn't get the seat back far enough to work the clutch. I've always had a soft spot for the small sized trucks though and have been looking for one in a extended cab for quite some time. I had though the Ranger would cut the bill but was not very impressed with the V6.
This Nissan is perfect. It is the extended cab, and first thing I did was take out all the seats and then put in some proper sized bucket seats out of a car. The interior had been gutted on this thing and I will have to slowly find all the stuff to put it back together. Just about nothing electrical worked when I got it, because of body and seriously jerry rigged the wiring and it took me two evenings just to get the wiring sorted out and get stuff working that needs to work, such as the header and windshield wipers. I am still missing the heater duct that goes from the blower motor to the heater core so am without a heater at this time, but it has been warm enough to drive without one. Truck and five tires and wheels that came with it, and none of them matched or where the same size tire. So after rummaging through my crap, I found 4 6 lug wheels that would fit it that matched and found some 30x9.50R15 tires that have enough life to roll it until I can afford a new set for it. Thinking the next thing I need for it is gonna be some better headlights, because the ones on it SUCK. It has what I believe is a 2.2 liter engine with the duel spark plugs, and must say it has some get up and go. Put it in four low and it will climb anything I can clear the bumpers over. So far I'm really liking this little beater, and the best part is I've only got $56 into it as I bought a coil and ignition for the ranger, and A mirror for the Nissan.
