This FNX I just got is the first polymer gun I've owned, and I am having a hard time getting the powder marks off the frame. What is best for cleaning this?

I've never had a polymer frame, but I would think a drop or two of dish washing soap in some water might work. Looking at a few forums, it seems many solvents are safe, but I wouldn't bet a $500 pistol on it. What does your owners manual suggest?

From the manual: Notice! NEvER SoAk yoUR FiREARM iN HydRoCARboNS, AMMoNiA, tRiCHloRoEtHylENE oR tEFloN-bASEd lUbRiCANtS AS tHEy CAN CAUSE dAMAgE to yoUR piStol. Wow, that cut and paste came out weird. I'm thinking if you use most solvents, they are hydrocarbon based. It says soaking, so maybe it's ok to use something like #9 as long as it's wiped dry?

You're going to be disgusted by my recomendation, but use WD-40. WD-40 is a superb cleaner/precleaner. Do not put it on your metal parts unless you follow it with something else. For your polymer framed gun, spray the WD-40 on a soft rag, and rub it into the gun to pull the crud out of it. Don't knock it till you try it. It's one of the few proper uses of WD-40. Hogue actually recommends using it to clean their rubber grips.

If you ever bed a firearm, it's also quite good at cleaning the wet epoxy off the stock without damaging the finish of the stock at all.

Hello guys,
This is off the subject, but sorta fits here. If you want to make a Stainless Steel type Bar-B-Q look NEW, spray lightly with WD-40 and wipe. There will be sorta a small miracle happen right before you eyes!
Keep on having FUN! MAC
