Thought I might share my gun barrel cleaning method. It works well for me.
I'll take a appropriate sized bore brush, and dip it in Hoppe's #9, and the brush the bore about 15 times or so. Take the brush and then clean it with acetone to keep the solvent from eating it. I'll then let the gun sit for 20 or 30 mins and then wipe the bore with a tight fitting dry patch. The first one will come out black and extremely dirty, but the second and third one will usually come back clean and dry. This works well for me with both lead and copper fouling.

That sounds like a good method but lots of work brushing for 15 minutes. I have decided I am going to change my old method and adopt a new one. My new method will be to drop them off at my oldest Son's house. HA!!! You gotta move closer

Not 15 minutes. 15 strokes. As in the cleaning rod back and forth in the barrel 15 times or so. Depending on how dirty the gun is, sometimes I will omly give it 5 or 6 strokes. I'm too lazy to brush for 15 minutes.
If we had the opportunity to move closer and I could find a job over that way, I would jump on it. But we are kinda stuck here for now.

since i am a lazy (beep) guy, i hate gun cleanin. i'd rather be out there shooting. when i was cleaning my bore(30-40 krag) out for cast boolits, i tried gunslicks foaming bore cleaner. i was amazed. put gunslicks in the bore, walk away(or hobble ) then 45-60 minutes later you can start cleaning. now with my 30-40 krag i had to completely remove all copper from the bore. it took me about 5 days(7-8 hours/day) to get it completely clean. i used gunslicks, shooters choice and sweets each time. it was gunslicks, shooters, sweets, gunslick, shooters, sweets, gunslicks.... and i followed their instructions. i hope i never do that again! cleaning out an old military rifle to shoot cast is NOT my cup of tea. i use gunslicks for cleaning cast and jacketed bullets. once in awhile i use shooters choice just to make make me feel a little better but gunslicks is it.
