i luv the 275gr's meplate. the wound channel is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" diameter and it is straightforward. my dad (RIP) shot a 7pt broadside with his Remington m760 in '06 and factory 180gr Rem RN ammo. it went in behind the shoulder, lungs and heart, hit the opposite shoulder, turned around and went out bottom lungs on the entrance wound side. i don't know how, but the exit wound was on side the entrance wound. the shattered shoulder bone on the opposite side is my story to do that.

Well hopefully someone sometime during one of the many extended walk abouts recognized that you were in need of such a knive that could be used as both a tool and a weapon. If you are still in need or perhaps want to choose a different style for your next adventure I know a guy that could fill that order with no problem at all. I always loved readythe Capstick books when I was younger and I’ve actually read most of them two or three times just like Pet Loads or PO Ackley’s two volume set( didn’t I give you a paperback set) not sure why that piped in my brain. Anyway I loved hearing all about Africa and the animals. I just never understood the “hunters” that pay crazy amounts of money to go over and shoot something like a Zebra, for what? In order to get it mounted and put on display? Sorry all, didn’t mean to get all condescending. Too each their own I suppose but I know even if I had the resources it’s not for me.

No worries Mate I still have the custom battle knife you gave me when our life's paths were destined to part. I get it out on occasion and hone it up to stay sharp enough to split hairs. It used to go to town with me as back up but mostly now just a 1911 with three clips. I dont go to town much just usually a have to thing but when I do I hate feeling naked and helpless. The 1911 makes me feel pretty well dressed and strong.
We are in the same boat about hunting cost. My thinking is that it is a way to save money not spend money. That even to the point where I have to weigh out the cost of a tank of gas to the possibility of filling a tag to decide of it will be worth it. Even for coyote hunting and the currently reduced value of the hides. If I burn a tank of gas in my small Dodge Dakota to get one coyote it seems like a wasted effort because the value of the one fur is about equal to the tank of gas. Fur values have dropped dramatically in the last few years since the NAFA went out of business. Its hard to get $25.00 now for a good coyote where before the NAFA bankruptcy I was getting up to $200.00 for my best and about a $75.00 average .
Tina got herself a new fur sewing machine so now we are looking at her making fur items to sell rather than selling them on the raw fur market. She has been making fur backed pillows that sell well and right now fur topped Christmas stockings are a hot item.

Its made in Turkey. They are selling for under $300.00 right now at Bob Wards in Hamilton. Mine is absolutely dependable and quite accurate. That Remington I got from you I never could get it to feed reliably so ended up trading for a scope. I am well satisfied with this one. I watched a you tube video on these guns and several people gave praised them so we ordered one to try. After testing it I had to agree there was nothing not to like about it. I have paid a lot more money for guns that worked no better but they said Colt on them. Abraham bought a Springfield for 2 1/2 times the money but he said he likes mine better.
Its just a plain Jane copy of the military 1911 A-1.

Some of those Turkish guns are pretty good. I couldn’t ever get that Remington to run right either. It was way worse when I first got it, but no amount of tinkering would make that gun run. The Ruger I carry I bought right after I traded you that one, and it had been 100% reliable and accurate. It is an aluminum framed commander so quite a bit lighter than a standard GI model.

I also have a new in the box never fired Glock. I think its the model 21 in 45 acp. I dont really know why I have it I just do. I think one clip in the Glock holds what two clips in the 1911 hold. Dont matter to me though cuz I am a 1911 guy and aint likely to change. Better is nice but good enough is well good enough.

I have 2 glocks, both model 19s in 9mm. Both I bought new. I actually carry the gen 3 as a backup quite a bit, or a beat around work gun. The other is a gen5 with an optic on it that I don’t use or shoot much. The older one is on my left hip right now.
I HATE the factory Glock triggers. However Timney makes a trigger for the glocks now that does away with the cocking wirh the trigger pull, and converts it to a straight drop sear. These triggers are almost 1911ish, short, crisp and sub 3lb pull. I have them in both of these pistols. The older one has a better trigger, but the new one is also much better than stock.
The gen 3 I have has the finger grooves ground off and is stippled (by me) and wears Trijicon HD sights. Even though it’s a puny 9mm, it does hold 2x as many rounds as my 1911, so will a spare mag I have 31 rounds at my disposal.

I’ll chime in here because the 1911 is by far the pistol I carry the most. I have accumulated several. A Colt combat commander, Colt govt 38 super, Colt govt model 45acpx2, Colt Delta Elite 10mm and a very early Kimber I bought at Fred Myers on a trip to Fairbanks and I believe I only gave a little over $300 bucks for it. Great gun but terrible finish. Out of those the commander gets carried the most, manly because I like it, I’m accurate with it and I’m comfortable with it. The only annoying thing that bugs me at times carrying a 1911 is there are times when the concealed 1911 is seen and how many times have we heard either “your pistol cocked” or “your hammer is back” l always want to give the polite but succinct answer “ yes, thank you” just hard to beat a 1911.

""I like it, I’m accurate with it and I’m comfortable with it.""
The best reasons to choose a carry gun right there. I must be a lot meaner looking than you because I open carry and no one talks to me and they seem to give a wide berth when passing by. If I have to ask someone a question they seem to avoid the subject of what they see. Works good for me. I carry in the mil-surp green nylon Baretta holster with the flap top so you cant see the hammer on the holstered pistol. The standard 1911 A-1 fits perfectly in that holster.

That’s great! I see you upgraded from the M1917 M1911 holster for the M1911/A1. I remember that 45 really well also, as I remember it had a military frame with an early colt slide and had NM parts all over it. My favorite thing about it was the stipling someone had done on the front strap. That was an accurate 1911 for sure. When I’m hunting I use a WW2 brown shoulder that mostly pilots wore. I like it because when I have my camo top or jacket on you can’t tell I’m packing a pistol as well as a long gun, better to have it and not need it than to really need it and not have it!!

I forgot, I don’t think it’s cause you’re mean or even that some folks may think you have the potential to be mean. I believe the reason folks don’t ask questions or automatically ask questions is because obviously they overheard you speaking and discovered your genius level intelligence and are afraid they will embarrass themselves as soon as they open their mouth to engage you in conversation!😁

Or get shot ! Old age has weekend my tolerance for idiots. Have you ever watched a movie where they show two versions one of what could have happened and the one that did happen. Well sometimes at that crucial moment I do have flashes of what could have happened. Does that make me psycho ?
And that reminds me and as I like to do will quote Sam Clemins "" it is best to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt ""

I have a sign with that very quote above my loading bench out in my shop! I’m right there with you regarding limited tolerance when it comes to idiots with morons running a close second. I do not your mental health is in any way defective at all my friend. You see, thinking about ways to deal with the brain dead population among us is not unhealthy at all. The problem are those few groups or individuals that chose to act on those thoughts are the ones that have crossed over into the land of mental illness. Unfortunately once you make this transition it’s almost impossible to come back to where you were before you/they acted on their unhealthy thoughts. I had an experience tonite that’s a good example of incompetence and apathy but didn’t produce an overly negative response. I had to go to Wally World for my lovely wife and grab two or three items. On the way inside I noticed a red Chevy in front of me parked, engine off, vacant, but his lights were on. I did what any good citizen would do and inside told one female employee about the truck. I asked if she would like the plate number and she looked at me like I was speaking Russian and rolled her eyes while pointing to the service desk. I went to the desk and listened to the girl behind the counter regale a customer with her battle with sclerosis for at least ten minutes. Finally I get to the counter and explain why I’m there and then ask if she can announce that a red Chevy pickup has left his lights on and the tag number is**** she says “ oh no I can’t announce his tag, it’s a privacy violation “ huh?!? It’s on the truck in places n view! Ugh! Try to be a good guy and that’s what ya get!

If you got that kinda laugh and a little entertainment it was all worth it and I’ll take that as the positive that came out of it!! I hope some good is around the corner. Our first granddaughter Maggie is getting ready to have a small surgery. Her left thumb came without any bone or cartilage so now it’s just a limp piece of skin and presents a hazard as you can imagine so they will remove it. When’s she’s older she will have surgery to move her index over and it will become the thumb. I don’t understand it all but you get the idea.

I carry my 1911 in a Simply Rugged pancake holster with a thumb break. I do carry cocked and locked, but with being left handed I found the safety would get flicked off a lot when the gun bumped things, which is constantly. The thumb break keeps the safety guarded as well and keeps that from happening.
I have quite a few 1911s as as awll, but only dealt Carey that Ruger commander. I should get a family photo. I have that Ruger, and another Ruger target in 10mm, as well as a early delta elite 10mm, and a early Colt combat commander.

I would not have thought of a catchers pad but that would buy those precious seconds of protection. Watched a short program last evening on the reaction time of cats. Even a striking snake has difficulty landing a hit on a cat under 12 inches away. We stand little chance avoiding a charge. But that tri-load would sure be an equalizer !

I also have a thumb break on the holster I most often carry the 1911 in. I find it provides good retention of the pistol and always carrying cocked and locked it provides me that extra little bit of peace of mind. I hate to admit it but getting older I’m either going to have to go on a diet or go to a different type of carry because the inside the waistband carry is starting to get a little tight!😂
