So, I'm wondering about the proper diameter on the LGP's 400. My information on the T/C Hawkens gives me only what diameter to use on round balls; .490 dia. Would it be the same for the conicals?
Thanks
No Sir a conical will have to be very close to or slightly over actual bore diameter. The fit is usually by preference to your method of loading on weather you load in a fouled bore or if you wipe the bore between shots. The fit has to be loose enough to seat easily but not so loose that the bullet may move off the powder charge if the rifle is pointed down and shaken. If the bullet is too loose and moves off the powder it can create a dangerous barrel obstruction issue and if it is too tight it may have to be pounded down deforming the bullet and ruining all potential for accuracy. It’s a personal thing not only to the shooter but to the rifle as well.
