Had to go to Fairbanks yesterday and pick up the engine block and heads for the suburban from the machine shop, and while waiting for the wife to come out of Costco (I’m banned from Costco for open carrying a gun in there) I decided to make the rounds to the local gun stores.
Ran into Leanord Hanson over at Iron & Wood. They had a very clean in box Smith 31-1 32 long that I very nearly picked up, but I decided to leave it with the $650 price tag since I just spent over 3 grand on the suburban engine.
Got home last night and found 10 boxes of 32 long ammo in my stash. I should have bought it.

32 S&W long is a great just for fun shooting round. I have, well used to have but gave it to Joy a Ruger single six that started as a 22 RF now converted to 32 H&R mag that shoots really well with 32 longs. Also have a Stevens model 44 with the heavy half octagon half round barrel that started as a 32 RF but is now converted to 32 S&W long center fire also a very fun gun to shoot. As a small game round the 32 long is top notch as it was even in its RF version. I had some doubt about converting the Stevens 44 to 32 S&W long because looking at the original specs for the 32 long RF Wiki says it used a .316" diameter heeled bullet. I shoot conventional 32-20 bullets in it sized to .313"/.314" and the little rifle is superbly accurate with those. Most load data for the 32 long shows 80 to 90 grain bullets but it does exceptionally well with the heavier 115gn bullets for the 32-20. If you see Leanord again say Hi for me.
