Got this yesterday. He is shooting a 25-20 SS. The bullet that worked for him is from an original Winchester mold marked 25-20 that produces an 85 grain flat nose plain base bullet.
I used to work 55 60 hours a week plus home and bride not much time to test loads (reason for 5 years). Been spending the last 5 years trying to find what this darn rifle likes when I had time to reload different batches of 5 rounds each and go to the range and test. Your bullet with small pistol primers and 8 grains of 4227 and bullet seated just short of the rifling is the amazing! Went from an 8-inch group at 50 yards to an inch. Will be sending postal M.O. end of next week.
Thank you,
Terry

I should mention that though I am not sure what type of rifle the chambering is 25-20 SS. The mold he got bullets from is an original Winchester mold marked 25-20 that produces an 85 grain flat nose plain base bullet. I too have gotten very good results from the same bullet in a modern Marlin model 1894 in 25-20 wcf. I guess they got it right at the beginning and perfection is hard to improve on.
