You folks will love me for this tip. It is so simple yet so effective for tightening loose mold handles. It quickly becomes very frustrating when your casting and the wood handles keep sliding off the metal stud on your mold handles. The quick simple fix I have found is to let the wood slip off the metal stud that the wood handle slips over and put one of the plastic shopping sacks from the grocery store over the stud then slide the wood handle back on over the plastic bag. You may have to tap it on as you want it tight. If the wood handles are cracked I wire wrap them first with about half a dozen wraps of trapping wire much like as used on the old Yankee molds.
In use the plastic bag melts and forms a positive bond between wood and metal. This works so much better than trying to glue the handle on because most glue will cook off and not hold. My handle sets that I have done this simple repair to are all holding well.
Perhaps not the best way to make a permanent fix but so simple and effective.

Sure will In a few days we will be back in Arequipa. My dipper down there has been loosey-goosey for some years.
