I really did not want to have to do this, and with it being a small group it sucks even more, but I feel it is time to start stating some rules.
Mainly, I don't want people coming here just to talk crap and bash other forums. Many of us were part of the cast boolits community for a long time, and other forums for a long time. Whats happening over there sucks, but talking crap about those guys over here is not going to help anybody. This place is place for us to talk about the things we love, mainly guns. If its just cluttered with a bunch of whining about whats happening somewhere else, its not serving its purpose. And I can't speak for everyone, but frankly I don't care what they are doing since I am no longer part of thag communty.
Alright guys. Thats it for now. Any new threads that are started just to gossip about another forum will be deleted.

I, for one, really appreciate that. I was reluctant to come here or any other forum because I am sick and tired of what's been allowed on other forums. I just want to post factual information I find through testing on cast bullet shooting.....all kinds of cast bullet shooting. I also want to further our hobby/avocation by assisting anyone where I can. Glad to be here.

Hi guys. I just found & joined your forum tonight. I learned of Dan back in November, while surfing other forums looking for info. about BP cartridge loading for my Trapdoor .45-70, & New York .50-70 Rem. I sent him a few emails with questions, & he replied with the answers & his experienced opinions about what to use. I'm 73, & have been shooting informally & hunting here in Ohio since I was 12 years old. Back in the '60's & to the mid '70's, I had a collection of over 50 mostly antique Civil War, Indian War, & later military weapons. Long story short, I got married, adding mouths to feed, got laid off (having my own semi) no job in sight, many nice guns went to new owners. I have reloaded smokeless cartridges, shot muzzleloaders, for years, & now have to learn how to load BP cartridges. I never had heard of "drop tube" loading powder. I'm now building one. Anyway, thanks to Dan & all of the rest of you for educating me. As soon as Dan gets my bullets to me, I should be about ready to start.

Good morning shootist and welcome to this fine place. I am one of those older military collectors also. Many of mine are sitting at the War Museum in Danville ILLinios. They are a joy to shoot. One of the reasons I decided to go that route was knowing they only become more valuable and one day we would finally have to stop what we do. I figure those rifles will provide food on the table by hunting or selling. But it sure will be sad to have to pass them on. A Roller caliber 50 still eludes me. Not that they are not available... I just get sidetracked... Mike in Peru

Thank you Mike. I grew up on a 106 acre farm SW of Youngstown, Ohio. Dad bought me a Mossberg 146B bolt action .22 when I was about 15. After graduating HS, I bought a Hopkins & Allen Minuteman .45 cal. ML (Numerich Arms) After I started working at local truckstops, I would buy guns from truckers that needed cash. In 1965, I drove to Gettysburg, PA, & bought a Colt contract .58 cal. musket, to go with my origional 1858 Remington new Model .44 C & B pistol, (I still have it). Later after buying my own semi truck, & being single, I started buying & trading. I had 5 Civil War carbines, 3 muskets, & many other collectible items. Years later, in 1993, I loaned my military weapons to the War Vet Museum in Canfield, Ohio for display. When I retired over 15 years ago, moving back to NW Ohio, I brought some things home with me. Last Oct., I went back to the museum & got my .45-70, & 50-70 to hopefully use for deer season. At that time, I donated the Colt .58 musket, along with some other items to the museum. Luckily, I shot 2 deer with the 1884 Trapdoor .45-70. I have never shot the .50-70 yet, but as soon as bullets arrive from Dan, I will be ready to load, & shoot it.
