Goodsteels thread over there about his 10 ga slugs has pit me in the mood for a new shoulder bruiser, and I have decider that after I pay off the gun I currently have on layaway I'm gonna order a ultra slug hunter. So the question is...12 or 20 ga, and....where does one go to find brass 3" hulls for less then 10 bucks each?

Greetings Sierra Cannot speak for 20 gauge but last couple months ago bought 20 12 gauge used for $20 plus $3 for a padded envelope ship. Ya just have to be willing to hunt the webs and look at the stuff for sale. May take some time but they do show up. Mike in Peru

My vote goes for 12 gauge. Good luck with those brass hulls. Every now and then some neerdowell sells some of them for a few bucks but it's rare. Also, consider that the brass is much thinner than the plastic hulls, so if you shoot round balls, they're going to be rattling around in there a little bit. The pain of losing a hull or wearing out the rim goes without saying (ya know, those yaller metal hulls dont crimp worth beans in my MEC? LOL!) Get a RB mold from the dude in England spec it to drop .736-.738. Your bore will be .730, and the thin band that get's swaged around the equator of that ball is just enough to properly obturate that big bore.

If I get one I want to start playing with the brass cases again loading with the bullet out of the case like I used to. I only had 2.75" hulls before though.

What I want to do is rig up a rifling bench so I can scrape some little grooves into a SXS shotgun.

There is a video on YouTube of a fellow setting one up and rifling a shotgun barrel by hand. Pretty neat.

These are what I was using before Tom. I would really like to get some 3" though so it doesn't have any jump, or not as much anyway.
