I know Lee has redesigned their molds. I only have the old style ones. Are the new ones any better then the old ones, or at least not any worse?

I only have one of the new design but my opinion is that they are better. I think the conventional alignment pins make them easier to use than the older V system. I also like the new venting system better.

Did they change the 6 cavity one? I'm getting tired of cranking out 2 bullets at a time for my autos.

I think they do use the new circular venting system on the 6 cavity molds

Mostly a test to see if I can post pics from my cel phone, since I texted you the pics already. Nope, it says file size too big. At any rate, the new Lee's are much nicer.

Good morning That is good news. Those V type guides were amazing that they produced any kind of good bullets. Not sure how many times after the mold was closed it was looked at to be sure it was aligned... Mike in Peru

Just today received a new Lee 6 cavity and it does indeed have the circular venting system. This is a first cataloged 22 cal design from Lee the C225-55 RF. They introduced this design in two calibers last year in 22 cal and 35 cal. The 35 cal 200gn version looks much like the eminently capable 35-200 GC from RCBS. If someone cant afford the RCBS version the Lee 2 cav may possibly be within your means. I will likely be adding the 6 cavity to our inventory to increase production rate over the RCBS 2 cavity. The RCBS version has always been a consistently accurate design in any 35 cal I have used it in from 357 mag to 358 Norma. On the C225-55 RF I was hoping it would be short enough in length to stabilize in a 1/16" twist but now with mold in hand I have doubt. Still wont keep me from trying though! BTW if anyone else is interested in acquiring one of these 22 cal 6 cavity molds Lee is selling these on ebay at $38.00 and is a darn good price for a 6 cavity mold of very usable quality.

That picture Tom sent in shows the new alignment pins quite nicely. Thanks Tom! Now I'll have to shop for one of those molds to make some .50/70 bullets. My present Lee molds with the V or angle alignment simply isn't consistent enough. Here's hopin' I won't put in a new order only to receive new-old stock... Shoot sharp, Mike

While it has much better venting and real alignment pins. I had to beat the snot out of them to get them to release. Sierra Hunter suggested cooler mould temps and hotter melt temps. With a moderately warm mould and 820 melt temp, things got much better. It's no noe, but not bad.
