Excellent ! I was thoroughly entertained in reading it. My rifle went when we were yard sailing for the move. We sold everything that would sell and kept the rest. The little CZ had a buyer at our price so it sold. I too regret it. I have never even attempted to replace it because I know the results would be the same as for you.

Very good, your writing continues to improve. Keep up the good work and your work will out live you. At your age that may not seem important but that will change with time. I think it natural that when a person is approaching their final chapter in life to have a desire to leave behind something that will endure time, something to be remembered by. My favorite old time gun writers are gone but their work and appreciation of such continues on.

Unfortunately, most of the gun writers today are not worth a crap. They write for the paycheck, not for the love of firearms. I’m hoping maybe my writing will become popular with the older crowd who remembers writers who actually liked guns.
