All members and visitors to this site are invited to the first annual Billy Dixon shoot to be held in Dell MT on Fathers day June 17 of 2018. Shooting to begin at 10:00 am The aim and purpose of this shoot is first to have fun and second to see if we can do what Billy Dixon did with our period type guns, hit a buffalo size target at farther away than we should be able to
Not too big on rules other than CAST BULLETS ONLY. It would be nice to stay with period guns but I wont put any restrictions on it other than cast bullets only.
Any sights optical or iron. Any caliber. Any (safe) powder
Cast bullets only, gas checks OK.
Camping will be available at BS acres or on the tens of thousands of acres of public lands that surround it.
At present there are no plans of entry fees or prizes but to make it interesting the subject may be discussed at a camp fire meeting the night before.
One more little thingy I will be hard about is NO ALCAHOL !!! at the shoot. There is plenty of time for that at the camp fire meetings before and after the shoot.
See yall there!

Dan n' Crew, I won't be able to make it to the Billy Dixon shoot. I've got my horse trailer/rolling hat shop up n' working again and will be at the Quigley Match north of Forsyth, Montana from the 11th through the 17th. Presently refurbishing/sprucing up the old 1977 horse trailer/rolling hat shop, getting it ready to be 'on the road again' for the summer/fall horse/mule events. First stop will be Montana Mule Days then over to Idaho n' Oregon and back to Montana. Not sure when will by your digs? Sometime this summer/fall. I do wish you well with the shoot. Hombre

OK my friend but you know anytime you want to take a whack at it your welcome to stop by and tear me from work. I think I will take the steel buffalo down before hunting season starts in the fall as if not it is likely to get shot full of holes. BTW I have had the bullets from your molds ready for quite a while now.

The 515139 solid n' hollow point molds and bullets arrived safe n' sound. As is always the case, excellent quality - much appreciated friend. Thank you. Will load them in Starline .56-50 brass for use in .50 rimfire Peabody carbine - in which I have removed the rimfire block and lock/hammer assemblies and installed a block and lock/hammer from what use to be a .43 Spanish rifle. It is now a twin to the .50 rimifre military carbine, though now having a Badger barrel turned to carbine contour and in .45-70. The donor for the .45-70 carbine was an action n' butt stock that I acquired several years ago.
