Part 2. Shown with the 2 bandoliers a friend made about 4 years ago, when we were into the Boer War era of things. One is 10 pocket and the other is 12 pockets. Shows a stripper clip being at the ready position. With the stripper clip, you shove it down from the top, like on an M1 Garand. Unlike the Garand discharge of an empty clip, the Dutch Mannlicher (Carcano and similar rifles) drops the clip out of the bottom of the magazine well. Then to reload you insert another loaded stripper clip. Now if you want to unload the carbine, even if you've fire a couple of rounds and only have 3 rounds left in the magazine, you then open and pull the bolt all of the way to the rear, then press the stripper clip catch release button on the inside front of the trigger guard and the stripper clip is pushed upwards by the magazine elevator. This procedure will let the stripper clip with any/all rounds raise up out of the magazine for unloading. Safe n' very practical.
