Got home from work today, and there was a package from fedex on the porch. With out thinking much about it i opened it up and inside was a brand new Frankford Arsenal case tumbler. My wife ordered it for me for Christmas. Will be so much nicer then then using a drill and steel wool to clean range brass for my 1911. Got a batch of 308's in it right now, and must say it is much quieter then the ones my dad had when I was a kid. I've got it upstairs in my gun room, and sitting directly below it, I can barely hear it. Doesn't get better then this.

That's a nice Christmas present, and early to boot. You say tumbler, does that mean in a drum, or is it a vibrating cleaner? I normally use an old Lyman vibrator, probably a lot noisier than your new one. There are a couple of old drum type tumblers out in the garage somewhere that I may repair and put into service.

Good on ya Jr. Earlier this year I got the Frankford Arsenal rotary tumbler. Its the best deal on the market for a rotary type tumbler. It has a large very durable drum and does a great job. I mainly got it for cleaning 22 RF cases for us as 22 cal jackets for swaging. The stainless steel pin media does a fantastic job of cleaning cases but require the use of a rotary type tumbler. I also have an RCbS sidewinder tumbler but I like the Frankford Arsenal tumbler better and being less than half the price of the RCBS makes it even more likeable.

I wanted to try one of the rotary ones, but I'm happy with this one. I hate running dirty range brass through my 1911.

Nice present! I've got an old vibrating tumbler, orange colored so lyman I think. I've just about quit using it for handgun brass, but do rifle in it. I use hot water and lemon juice in the kitchen sink with a dash of dish soap, cleans them pretty good just not real shiny.

I have been taking a sock and filling it with brass, wiring the top shut and throwing in the washer ever since we moved here. It worked well, but didn't get them nice and shiny like this does.

So which one is the keeper the tumbler or the wife that got it for you?

Wife. She has surprisingly never had anything to say about any of the random things I do with guns, including taking her spaghetti strainer this morning to shift brass.
